This training covers the following:

Developmental Milestones of children 6months-3years old in the four developmental domains - social/emotional, language (communication), cognitive, and movement/physical.

Warning signs that a child may not be meeting a particular milestones in a certain domain.

Strategies to encourage parents to do to help their child learn and grow in the different domains for each milestone.

About the presenter:

Dr. Romina M. Barros is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and currently serves as the Medical Director of Trauma Services Under 5 Program & Group Attachment Based Intervention (GABI) Program at the Rose F. Kennedy Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center – Montefiore Medical Center. She currently maintains a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Einstein College of Medicine. She is in charge of training of the Child Development Specialists, and participates in teaching the Developmental Behavioral Pediatric Fellows and Child-Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows. Dr. Barros was recently selected to be the CDC Act Early Ambassador to New York State. Dr. Barros is Board Certified in Pediatrics as well as in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. Dr. Barros is a Fellow member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Society of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. 

Before becoming the Medical Director of Trauma Services Under 5 Program & GABI, Dr. Barros served as the Director of the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Program (DBP) at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center (BHMC) and held an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at New York Medical College. Dr. Barros also served as the Director of the Community Pediatrics and Advocacy Program at BHMC. During her time in Brookdale, Dr. Barros was awarded with two grants, one from two private funders and with a 3-year New York State OMH Grant to start a Healthy Steps Program which she implemented, oversaw and directed. Before joining Brookdale, Dr. Barros was an Assistant Professor at Einstein/Children’s Hospital at Montefiore for almost 5 years and then served as a Faculty and Attending Physician in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Program at Flushing Hospital, Queens. Dr. Barros completed her pediatric residency at Brookdale Hospital in 2004 and a fellowship in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at Einstein/Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in 2007. Dr. Barros obtained her medical degree at University Maimonides in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
